works. it also has an internal battery inside the charger. which means that you can also use the solar charger as an external battery when there is no sunlight.

this is useful for when you dont have a power supply handy (i.e. car). however for the price you could pick up a car charger and another high capacity battery and still have change.

for the price i would look else for an alternative
