First of all you can always convert it easily.
Next I doubt Sony will. Why? well they're getting tight wif firmware 2.0 so I'm guessing nice things like this will never appear.
You hav 1.0 b4 and supposely it isn't even region locked.
Then 1.50 still allows u 2 run homebrew and such.
1.51/1.52 started to get stupid.
2.0 lured unknowing ppl in to ruin the rest.

Ta....converting wma to mp3 is never recommended as it is a lossy to lossy conversion. Ugly.

yeah it sounds pretty shoddy if you do that. I went from AAC to OGG for my iRiver MP3 player and it didn't sound too great.
Also, there was news regarding the future of next firmware. They're looking into DRM protected music support. and the only two formats i know which uses DRM is AAC and WMA. So hope for the best they support WMA. i Doubt it though. They'r eprobablym referring to AAC.

I use WMP10, and think its great. I use the included MP3 Encoder at 256kbit instead of WMA though.

i prefer using atrac3plus. leaves alot of space for more music and i don't hear any loss in quality whatsoever.

yeah, matter of fact i believe atrac3plus to be better. the sound quality is as clear as MP3 but louder. well that's what i see/hear, when i compare the tracks i have on my psp when i load up both atrac and mp3 files.
ATRAC BABY!
EDIT: I just think its a long and annoying process converting to ATRAC.. also the files are not just straight copy n paste, they're sorted in a way similar to that of iPods. And last time i remember SonicStage's music database on my computer corrupted and I had to do a complete reinstall of it with some registry tweaks.

yeah thats the problem with em....they will take a while to become common in peoples music lists but in the long run they will probably overtake MP3's

hopefully when that day comes, it'll be as easy as copy and paste, rather than using programs like sonicstage.

look in your psp manual.... its highly compressed but has a high bitrate~! so a 7 mb mp3 will sound worse then a the same song converted down to like 2 mb !
