PSP Hardware \ Help - PSP dramas!!!

nickers says:

Hey all,

Have had my PSP for over a year now and have used it on and off. June of last year the analog stick (the one that looks like a speaker) became stuck in the one position, making it pretty much unplayable. I took it to a local PSP repair shop here in Adelaide who fixed it (temporarily) for around 60 bucks. Around 3 weeks later, the exact same thing happened. I have since been overseas for a while so haven't got round to fixing it again.

Main question is - should I be sending it back to Sony as a faulty product? From the people I have spoken to no-one else has had a similar problem. I take good care of my PSP, particularly during gameplay, and can't understand why the analog stick keeps getting stuck.

What do you all think? Would appreciate your thoughts...

Cheers,

Nickers.

IAMColonel says:

Well .. if it was an official psp repair place, then sony should take it back. Or just don't mention that you took it to be repaired. Oh um, your warranty will probably be expired, depending on when you got the psp?????? So yea i think you're probably stuffed

They'll just blame you fopr breaking it, won't be able to claim it as faulty i dont think

dragon74 says:

Thats happened to me twice Nickers, and both times Sony have fixed it free of charge, even paying for all the postage and packaging. Like IAC said, I probably wouldnt mention having it repaired elsewhere, as Sony dont have an official 'local repair shop'
Call Sony PSP repairs on 1300 365 911. It wont take any more than 2 weeks to get it back.

dragon74 says:

It could be a software problem? For me, it was physical both times. I guess being a software prob could make sense tho.

By chance has your PSP been downgraded and it is a TA-082 ?

I got remote play to work on me mates PS3, pretty useless seeing what was meant to be seen at 1080i resolution on a lil PSP widescreen (not dissing =).

As I've previously mentioned I have fw 3.40 OE - plugged in the USB cable (in USB mode) and turned on Wi-Fi (for no apparent reason) and it eventually showed up after a few tries.

And where's the promised ability to use it as a spare controller? We're stuck passing around a single controller on Fall of Man!

like, what's the message on the screen when it won't connect?

i had this problem, i just deleted the network connection, and set it up again, and for some reason it worked. u might have accidentally put in the wrong password.

insectoid says:

it's very likely that sony could fix it for you. They'd make you pay some sort of ridiculous price probably though

IAMColonel says:

If you bought it within the last 12 months you should have a warranty ... wait do you mean its bricked? if so .. no!
