PSPs have smart batteries/chargers. U can plug it in and it'll charge till it's done. If you leave it plugged, you can run the unit off mains power.

You can tell the exact amount of power left in the from the XMB (Settings -> System Settings -> Battery Information).

Btw, if the smart chip malfunctions in the battery, it will no longer charge and the power level will read 0% FOREVER. Goodbye $50 investment! (Happened to me TWICE)
