When you buy the game, on the back of the case near the bottom there is a little box that says how many players can play ect. and if there is a little picture of 2 psp's that says 'game sharing' under it then it can. all you need to do is go into the gameshare/adhoc area in you game, host a match.

then your friend gets his psp(assuming he brought 1), and in the area where u go through videos, music, setting ect. go to 'game' and click on game sharing then it is fairly easy to do from there (he may need to upgrade his firmware but in not sure
