PSP Software \ Broken PSP? (Help urgently required)

I've just purchased a PSP from Ebay from somebody who has only used it in a legitimate fashion aside from an apparent ‘friend’ who downgraded it to version 1.5.

I received the PSP today and I have encountered a problem I’ve never encountered with a PSP before:
- UMD’s will not work.
- There is no MAC address.
- No programs whatsoever will run (therefore I can’t make a Pandora or change the software).*

PSP Specs:
- Region 4
- PSP-1002K
- ‘Fat’
- No physical issues (90% sure this is a software problem)

Anyway, this is really bothering me and I’d appreciate any help you could give me.
My guess is that the idiot who downgraded, flashed from his/her own flash and it’s confusing the system. I’m really not too sure, but I would love to have this PSP working with custom software.


*Error that is received: “This game cannot be started. The region code is not correct.”

Hope they haven't flashed a dodgy NAND. Use a Pandora Battery (borrow one) and it should fix your problems unless the NAND is stuffed, the flash memory is stuffed, or it's a physical problem

If the NAND is stuffed, you make do with what you've got as far as I know. No way back from there
If UMD is physically stuffed (doesn't sound like it) then obviously you'd need to replace it
If firmware is stuffed then you can rejoice cos it's an easy fix with pandora

But I remember reading earlier in my frantic research that with fat PSP's it is possible to use the NANDs of another fat PSP of the same reigion to gain some form of use over the otherwise dead PSP.

*edit*
One cannot change the IDstoragekeys but the NAND itself can be imported from another fat PSP. So fingers crossed for the IDstoragekeys.

yeah i'm 90% sure thats the nand...they restored the psp using someone elses nand dump, it's always the wifi and umd drive that die and the mac address always disappears. I'd be hunting the person that sold it!
