Prince says:

I just found some info related to the Starwars TV series. It is said to have at least 100 episodes and is to come out in 2008.

'It would cover the 20 years in the life of Luke Skywalker growing up that remains a mystery to most film-goers.'

'there would be 'a whole bunch of new characters' and the series would be 'much more dramatic and darker'.'

Much darker.. I like the sound of that! Im really looking forwards to this.

I would really love to see like a MA star wars film, or episode or somthing that was really dark, like really dark. Heaps of killing and stuff, that would be so sweet.

shamusot00le says:

Episode III was originally rated MA but they disputed it and it was re-rated to M.

Hey all,

I just got the new Star wars game 'Empire at war'. The game is totally awesome! There is a wide range of ground and air/space units, each of which is fairly detailed when you zoom in on them. The game has a user friendly interface, and it’s easy to learn how to play. The highest point of the game for me is the 'cinematic camera' view you can switch to during the battles (looks like its imitating the camera techniques/effects used in the movies). I also like how the major units (e.g. space stations) have weak points such as shield generators. I have never played a strategy game with units which have had weak points, so I was really impressed by that aspect. I'm saying this after running through the opening tutorial, so I’ll get back to you later once I finish the campaign mode.

I recommend downloading the demo, if you can’t get the game at the moment.

Prince says:

I started the 'Rebellion' campaign mode. The campaign is pretty cool; it runs through the time just before episode 4 through to episode 6. You work from a map of the star wars universe, which has every planet from the story. You can choose to invade any of the available planets in the campaign mode, altering the true story. You start off with basic missions such as stealing enemy technology, destroying an enemy space station; and then you go onto the harder missions such as invading planets and rescuing key characters.

It isn't your typical strategy game where you assign units to build structures and create units from buildings. You build up your structural defences and ground/air units beforehand, by clicking on the structure icon (of choice) on the map of the universe screen. I dont really consider this a downside to the game as it speeds up the process of getting into battles. Collecting resources is no longer a problem, credits is the only resource, and is generated from the mining structures you build beforehand, by clicking on the structure icon on the map of the universe screen .

Prince says:

I have just finished Rebellion campaign. It much shorter than I expected. It only contains the story from just before episode 4 to the end of episode 4. This was a major disappointment for me. I hope they release expansions for episode 5 and 6. I will now start the Imperal side of the campaign. I'd imagine it would be the same length.

neorafter says:

No doubt they will release expansions containing the rest of the game lol.

franki3 says:

Hey all!

The game certainly does sound good Prince, I really should try it out, i'll probably download the demo this weekend and see what I think.

As Neo said, they most likely will release expansions, unless you were the only one to buy it!

About the upcoming star wars game:

'Description
LucasArts executives have confirmed that the new Star Wars game will examine Lord Vader while an Indiana Jones title, possibly taking place in 1915 San Francisco, is also being developed.

Even though the Star Wars universe has completed its 6-movie cycle, it seems that LucasArts games based on its characters are here to stay. A New York Times article examining the company features comments from Haden Blackman, project leader of a forthcoming Star Wars game, mentioning that the title will delve ...deeper into Darth Vader's history.

During the same feature Peter Hirschmann, VP of product development, mentioned ...how researchers had tracked down images of San Francisco buildings from 1915 for the future Indiana Jones game.

Both games are current big projects for LucasArts although no specific mention of release dates is made in the NYT story. Although the article seems to insist that LucasArts wants to outgrow its Star Wars-studio image and introduce original IPs such as last year's surprise, Mercenaries, the story does not mention any non-franchise game.
