Converting videos for your PSP using pspvideo9

Heres a check list of what you will need:

• PSP (if you haven’t got one of these then you can stop reading now!)

• Memory Stick Duo (the bigger the memory the better so that 32mb card you got with your PSP won’t do. You’ll need at least a 512mb memory card up to as big as they go which is 8gb at the moment.) Go to Sandisk Gaming for more info on memory cards but plenty of places on the net or down at your local game or electrical store will have them on sale.

• Computer windows PC not sure about Apple Macs (again if don’t have one of these then theres no point going any further!)

• Movie Files you’ll need files like avi, mpeg, etc (if you have any! If you don’t then stop here! Try again when you have!)

• USB Cable Play-Asia (again available on the net or in store.)

~PSP Video converting software~

~For this guide I will run through converting using pspvideo9. Plenty of other PSP converting software is available but pspvideo9 is nice and easy to download, install and use. Also its free!

~PSP Video 9 has a few versions of it software available but would recommend 1.74, available here Pro-Com-Uk as it’s the one I’m using. I’d say use any that your happy with but check at pspvideo9s website as some versions are for homebrew users and latest version is for firmware 3.30 users. Where as version 1.74 is basically universal.

~Download the install file. Installations simple but if your not sure about how to install things on your PC then ask some one you know who does but it is pretty basic stuff.

~Once installed you should be left with a new desktop icon (if not go to All Programs in START) Click on it you now have pspsvideo9.

~Now your in you’ll see videora check it out if you want. I can’t use it but that’s cause I’m on dial-up. So can’t tell you about that. Would probably be worth checking out if you have broadband or other fast net connections though.

~To convert your own videos though you have to go to where it says CONVERT you’ll see the options for ONE-CLICK TRANSCODE and TRANSCODE NEW VIDEO go in to any just to check if you have compatible files to convert if you have carry on to the next section of this guide if you don’t or can’t find any then you’ll have to get some from somewhere then try again. I use uncopy-protected DVDs for most of my conversions. Try something like that.

~If you have compatible files, before starting a conversion go to SETUP once here you’ll see lots of different options but I’ll just give you a simple walk through to get a good conversion. In SETUP go to SETTINGS and look for ONE CLICK PROFILE click on and select SP/MOVIE (0-2hrs) then click on SAVE nothing else should really need to be changed but change anything you like after trying it this way. I have played around with it a lot and found this one of the best for quality and file size (being smaller file sizes than other conversions).

~Once the settings have been changed go back to CONVERT and select ONE-CLICK TRANSCODE select the files you want to convert by clicking on them (you can open them one at a time or open multiple items) then selecting OPEN you should now see it has started the conversion. All you have to do now is wait for it to complete its conversion. This can take different amounts of time depending on the size of the video file or how good or bad your PC is. Usually it doesn’t take that long but can slow down your PC so convert at a time when that’s all the PC would have to deal with! Conversion Complete! Now you just need to get those files on your PSP!

~Once conversion is complete get your PSP, Memory Stick and your USB cable. Turn on your PSP and insert the USB cable into the PSP and connect the other end into the PC. Now go to SETTINGS on your PSP and select USB. Your PC should pick it, if it comes up with anything like open with list just ignore it or cancel it. All you need to do is go back to pspvideo9 then to COPY you should see a list of the files you’ve just converted on your PC and if anything, whats on your PSP. Now select the file(s) you want to move from the PC on to your PSP by clicking on them selecting either MOVE FILE TO PSP or COPY FILE TO PSP now the files should be on your PSP ready to use. Also when you have a file selected you can rename it by going to FILE INFO then TITLE this can be done whether the file is on the PC or the PSP just as long as your using pspvideo9.

Easy! Well I hope it is for everyone.

As well as pspvideo9 there are plenty of other converters some free some not heres some links to some

Movie Taxi-PSP not free!

PQ DVD free!

None of these any good? Then try google or what ever search you use.

Let us know if theres anything you didn’t understand or you need some help. (We can try).

Latest version is out now. With 2.24 3.30+ firmware users can create 480x272 or 720x480 videos. Some other new features to. 3.30 OE-A users(and above) can also use this. Download 2.24 here www.pspvideo9.com/ Ver 1.74 the ver this guide is based on is still avalible to download. Here www.pro-com-uk.co.uk/ but would think 2.24 would'nt be much harder or different to use.

you walk out onto the street, you approach the closest teenager (being in New York, preferably not in the Ghetto's ), ask them, you will have your answer, you are either younger than 5, or older than 35 .. everyone else SHOULD know how to ...

Are we talking about illegally acquiring them here because if that is so then this isn't the place to talk about that.
There are many sites on the net where you can pay to download music, like iTunes, or if you have a program that allows you to rip CD's to MP3's then use that. In order to play the, you just make a folder on your PSP (read the manual because all this is in there) within the one called PSP on the memory stick and name it MUSIC. Then you can either make subfolders for your songs or you can just put them right in.
Maybe I should say go into USB mode first. Trust me we do get people who don't know when they are meant to do that.
