i don't know much about satelite isp, But i'm glad your getting the net on it, I was about to say 'is this the end of 'djaye' lol, Still great looking boat!

DJaye says:

Cheers guys, yeah, shes a cool looking boat alright, but you would be surprised to know she was launched in 1972. Making it a bit over 33 years old.

But its made of GRP (Fibreglass) which is virtually indestructable, and ageless. (Unless you run it up on rocks, they dont like that too much). Also osmosis of the gel coat, caused by exposure to the sun, and not taken care of by regular applications of protectants. But this boat has been well cared for.

You cant see in the pics, but in the forward cabins is a Toilet, shower with pressurised hotwater system. I will post a few more pics up later, I didn't want to spam a dozen pics in one posting.

Jo3l, I found a sattelite service supplier, which is not too exspensive. Its about $160 per month, broadband.

There are some limitations, and you have to buy your own dish. I have seen a popular dish used in marine envoirnments, it is like a fibreglass dome, with the dish inside it, and motorised so it constantly fixes in one position automatically, regardless to the direction of the boat. (Looks Like Doplar Radar Dome)

DJaye says:

Yeah, a Yacht is like a hole in the ground that you keep throwing money into. But, houses/units cost a fair bit per year too. Each year I pay rates, which is about $1600 - $1800 per year, plus Body Corporate fees which are about $300 per quarter ($1200 per annum).

Its more of a lifestyle thing I guess. Problem is, I am a hoarder, and I dont know what I am going to do with all my DJ Equipment, and other stuff that wont fit onboard. Probably will have to be stored, which means more bucks.

nickop says:

Woah! Very very nice yacht i must say! How big is that? I must say thats a pretty good home Do u have to pay some sort of fees eg rates?

30 Apr 2006 - 00:27 Melbourne

DJaye says:

Shes as bit over 37 ft, (cant remember it in metric, about 11 or 12m if my memory serves me correctly, its pretty large actually, especialy if your single handed

You can hitch to a river mooring for about $1200 per year (no electricity etc), or a Yacht Club pontoon mooring for about $125 per week (with electricity, water, amenities. Laundry.

But the good thing is, that if you dont like your neighbor, u can move.

She has a fairly good 12v solar system, whih is really needed if you are hitched to a river mooring

se7en says:

hey djaye
i just got my 1gig of ram in the mail and installed it, now i have a bit over a gig and it boosted the video memory from 64 to 128 which is also good!

that was good value for money

01 May 2006 - 19:50 adel

warhead says:

se7en i do not know how RAM effects the amount of video ram you hgave, and yoy said u have a bit over a gig of ram, i hope they are the same frequncy and bus speed, or itll be slowing down the potental of ur 1gb, if it is a diffrent set up, leave the 1gb in

like in my case, i had 512MB
i got a 1gb stick, an di just wacked it in with my 2x 256 sticks, but becuase hey were diffrent set ups, it was lagging my 1gb stick real bad, so wheni tok them out it was much better

02 May 2006 - 18:49 adel

warhead says:

hmm, your video card is nothing like i haveherd before, but it sounds like a preety good idea,
