I'm a full blown metalhead. I listen to most genres of metal...but not those retarted sub-sub-sub genres like 'speedcore', 'disco-core' or 'nintendo-core' (yes such things exist). Give me any good death metal, power metal or even hardcore and I'll be a happy chap

My top 10 bands/genre as of late include:

1. Lamb of God - metal/metalcore
2. The Black Dahlia Murder - Death metal
3. Cannibal Corpse - Death metal
4. Black Majesty - Aussie power metal
5. Switchblade - Aussie death metal (half of those guys used to go to school with me haha)
6. Opeth - Melodic death metal
7. Soilwork - Gothenburg/melodic death
8. Dragonforce - Extreme power metal
9. Fear Factory - Industrial metal
10. Scar Symmetry - Melodic death

With that said, anyone here planning on going to see Lamb of God in October? They're touring with Killswitch Engage and Unearth...ought to be one hell of a show.

I'm in the same boat as you, mate. I still find myself listening to some classic Linkin Park (post-Meteora) and of course you know how much I like Slipknot

But yeah...once a band hits mainstream success, chances are they're going to change their style in order to attract a wider audience. Happens to the best bands I suppose...Metallica, SLipknot, Korn...Trivium are even starting to trail down that road....but meh....thank god for underground music, eh?

nbo: I'm particularly fond of Howard Jones' vocal range, especially in the new songs being released. Plus they make some really nice songs like 'Rose of Sharyn' and 'When darkness falls'. Plus they're not like most metalcore bands where they're all about looks, as you claimed, and try to act all tough and look superior in photoshoots. Killswitch are just really laid back and make some awesome music.

kparaha : Looking back at the thread....only three people (including myself) have claimed to like metal....well actually two people since KoK doesn't know what metal is yet haha

Its just a great genre of music. So many styles, so many talents...people say 'screaming/growling is crap becase you can't hear anything'...but truth be told, many of these death metal screamers/growlers have some of the most melodic and profound voices I've ever heard. Take Scar Symmetry's or Soilwork's vocalsists....those guys can scream and growl like a banshee spliced with a demon...but out of nowhere, they go gospel on your arse and sing you a melody like none other lol!

Funny you should mention that, dude...there are a lot of death metal bands out there covering Britney Spears songs...its both hilarious AND awesome haha! Children of Bodom covered 'Oops I did it again' and I think Job for a Cowboy covered that 'Toxic' song...its confusing win!

check the ticketek site for details on the show. But I don't think it would be wise for someone of your stature to jump in the pit...remember, Lamb of God and Unearth are playing on the night, Lamb of God being the headlining act...so there are going to be circle pits, fight pits and...of course....THE WALL OF DEATH....so unless you want HUGE mf's charging at you with their shoulders out.....its best to stay near the back haha
