This chip should be a lot less than the U.P. The UP has a onboard NAND while this one does not.

Installation is still going to be around $100 since it is so difficult to work with the tracks on a PSP. Rumor is this chip will be easier to install than a U.P. chip but lets wait and see.

I have installed heaps of U.P. chips and I still find it a challenge to work with the fine tracks on the PSP. I can't see how this new chip can be any easier since it will be interfacing to the NAND the same way.

Price will be somewhere between $80 to $120 just for the install so it is not a cheap toy but well worth it if you bricked your PSP or want to play around with lots of custom firmware.

But until I install my first few and get an idea of the time needed to install them I will not be able to give out firm prices.

Lets just wait and see what it brings us.

pspfixer, hence your name, im assuming u do this stuff as a professional hobby? (or something along those lines)

at one stage iwas looking throguh the trading post and comtrader to get a chip done on my psp, but it seemed that all the people were just flashing (looking for suckers).

80-120 ey? im interested... ive got a birthday coming up in june, im considering getting a pcpp subscription and a 2 gb sandisk ms (i intended to buy a ms after i got my psp, but its been 18 months since i got my psp now... damn 32 mb stick can only hold 1 mvs rom!)

However, what i may do is, try and downgrade the psp myself, then do custom firmware myself, and if i screw up, off i go to you. Your like an insurance policy

Yes professional hobby sums it up nicely. The difficulty of the install of the UP chip is the reason I got a PSP.

I have yet to find a modchip installer in Australia who *really* installs a UP chip. There happy to give you a price but when you hand them a bricked PSP the excuses come flying. They must of had time to read how hard they are to install :/

I do softmod firmware changes but I find it boring. I play with PSP's for my own enjoyment. I always encourage people to do it them self.

Nope. Why else do you think you can find 1000 PS2 modchip installers and not one PSP installer... You know yourself. You looked in the comtrader. Take a look at the UP chip install to get an idea. Micro soldering is not a job for your backyarder PS2 modchip installer.

I hope the chip will be priced between $60-$100 since it does not have a onboard NAND like the U.P. chip does.

I guess installation will be around $80-$120 but the devolution people have been saying the installation will not be as hard core as the U.P. install so installation might even be less.

But we are going to have to wait and see.

We can be sure it is not going to be a cheap toy and it is pointless for someone who just wants to play homebrew and ISO's.

Only reasons I can think of to have one of these chips.
1)You have to have the best of everything
2)Bricked your PSP and cost to repair the PSP is the same as this chip
3)Software development - need to change firmware to test your PSP software with different firmware versions.
4)Firmware developer. People like D_A who gave use SE/OE firmware.
5)You want to tweak the XMB with new fonts and icons

Point 2 will be the most common one.

pspfixer i dis agree. Are you saying devolution cant run firware? because if u have the firmware, you have everything. OE firmware can run everything.

So are you saying it cant run OE firmware? Also pics ive seen of devolution, it has a flash on it
isnt that proasic thing a NAND?

You will have to excuse me for saying the wrong info in my last post. I am having a very bad day and not thinking straight. I am getting confused with another project being worked on.

It does have a NAND. So the price will be close to U.P. chip.

I need to take a break. I am getting to many things wrong.
