FAMILY GUY! - 7/10
Stop: before you read my review, keep this in mind - I love Family Guy. I own all the DVDs, have seen every episode, and watch the new episodes every week... just so you know, I found the game to be funny and pretty damn good, but if you have no idea what Family Guy is... This game is not for you and you will not get the references and probably be pretty confused. So with out further ado... FAMILY GUY!
Graphics 8/10
Not bad at all, the frame rate is stable, and the graphics strongly resemble the show so it looks familiar. There is, however, a point in the game where the graphics look like they were drawn by a blind 2 year old... The Minigames. At the introductions to videos and minigames, the frame rate drops to a single digit and basically look terrible. Other than this the graphics are really not that bad.
Sound 9/10
One of the games high points. The jokes always gets a laugh if you are familiar with the show. However, if you have to start a level over (which you will do over and over) you will hear the same jokes over and over again. But the game sounds like the show, with off color humor and a great voice performance by the original cast members.
Gameplay 5/10
In a word, broken. But not so much unplayable. Brian's levels are the worst. His levels consist stealthy of going around a couple of enemies to reach the next level. The line of sight for your opponents will change a lot and there is no set pattern for what they do so you will often play the same level again and again which becomes annoying... FAST. Stewie's levels are what I looked forward to the most because his levels were in the form of a platformer game. This means that you don't have a lot of freedom to explore the world of Family Guy, but you do get to go through certain... areas... of Peter's body. Also you can upgrade his guns, which gives you a sense of progressing through the game. Peter's levels are average to bad. Very repetitive and very challenging... this is another spot where you will wish to throw your PSP off the roof of a very tall building. Frustration has reached an all time high in Peter's levels, where your only goal is to beat the crap out of little kids, old people, and other various townspeople. (again, this game is for fans of the show to enjoy)
Overall 7/10
Good, not great, but still pretty damn funny and fun. When you’re not punching holes through walls, you’re laughing your ass off. You will find yourself looking forward to Stewie's levels and dreading Brian's levels. Big on story, but not on gameplay, the game seems rushed and is over all to quick. I highly suggest renting the game, rather than buying it. I beat the game in 9 hours, after that I played it again and beat it in 6 hours. Again, this is only suggested for the fans of the show
Another note - This game is not for the little one, really violent and quite a lot of sexuality (though no real nudity). You will know what I mean when you reach the "Prison Showers" levels... Quote "Why do we do this to each other..."
Lastly - Although the game boast a language warning on the back, I only heard one f-word, some "obscene hand gestures", and a couple other mild cuss words but nothing to terrible.
