Lumines - 5/10
I've always been a fan of the tetris style puzzle games. So, when I spent the obligatory $70 on this game, I was not disappointed!!
I love the fact that you have multiple levels to strive to achieve. And if you're a little tired of one type of the challenge level you can move onto a different level, eg: vs CPU ... and still gain the necessary skins.
The puzzle mode is my favourite. It's the one that really makes you concentrate, plan, scheme and feel quite the champ once you've achieved the required puzzle. And the best thing is once you start to feel really confident that this is a breeze, you get brought back down to earth when it throws a 'Clear 20' or a 'Zero to 3' at you !
Personally, I find the music a little repetitive especially when you've played the levels more times than you care to remember, but I generally concentrate better without music anyway. The music types are very varied though and the fact that it changes between skins certainly makes it a little more interesting.
While playing the challenge mode I have found that some of the skins are very conducive to building blocks, whereas some backgrounds tend to inhibit easy block building especially when faced with them for the first time ... but the more times you encounter those particular levels, the easier they get.
Clarity wise the game is as clear as day.
I still have a while to go on this game but I am definitely enjoying it.....despite the blisters on both my thumbs !!!!!
