From what I have heard I know that the first batch or two were rushed and so therefore a handful contained various hardware issues.
All the newly made ones should be fine.

I got my 360 at launch, literally the day that it came out and I can honestly say that i have never had an issue with it in any way whatsoever. Not even a glitch. Although I can say that I have seen those that friends of mine bought at the same time shut down and freeze up for seemingly no reason. Guess I got lucky.
Of course now that I have publicaly praised my 360 I'll head home and it will spontaneously combust on me

I'll probably look at the Wii, only for Wii sports though. Really it would only be to further try and get my girlfiend to see the light and join my love for video games. It's so hard sharing a home with someone who still rates sopas (Damn you Home and Away!!!) above an awsome gaming experience, if anything hopefully it will keep her occupied while I sneak off to get into the PSP for awhile
