My insensitive post for the day:

People killing each other because of games isn't really a bad thing...

1. Theres a population Crisis anyway, and because of toooo many people were causing global warming etc.etc. (basically violent games are saving the world in the long term).

2. People will think the game is a lot kooler if people died because of it. I know this sounds really bad but think about it, video game is released > someone plays it > mixed with a previous mental health condition, this person decides to play it > in court, the best defence this person can come up with is, it was the game that made him do it > video game becomes kooler and more high profile.
And how is this a good thing I hear you cry??
Well the people who make the games, sell more copys > make more money > make more games > need to employ more people (our parents etc.) to make games > newly employed people buy us the new games for christmas > we're happy for new games.

Really in-sensitive there but I believe I do have a valid 2 points.
Why do people always look at things in the way that everyone else looks at them, or the way that the law looks at them, the law isn't always right; but because something has been shunned by someone else, it must be bad. Silly society.

Well, I just finished it, (purchased on ebay) and to tell you the truth, towards the end, I was just hitting START during the executions to skip them, as they all got a bit samey, especially the gun kills...

The story tho, is unbelievable, and is one of the best storylines Ive played, ever. (apart from Halo).

Has anyone noticed how all the games are more violent based for next gen consoles?

I personally think it is pitiful that they need to put violence to sell a game.

Sure you make the money but what kind of future are you guys creating? Short Term profit for a long term pain.

I don't think I want to live in a future where everyone is desensitised to violence.

A mate of mine got it, and the game is really just over the top and disgusting. Everyone who saw it agrees. It's typical Rockstar pushing out games that they focus towards kids, mostly young teens, because they think all that stuff is cool. I wouldn't say it's good for your head though.

I think at the end of the day, it comes down to people believing that the public isn't smart enough to make a decision on their own... sheep I think is the term...

People are allowed to make a choice, but a line just has to be drawn sometime.... now is a good time. Kids get their hands on games like this at an early stage and they learn thru repitition that violence like this is encouraged. I mean even if we have R18+ games, we cannot stop who buys them etc... wow... I think I am actually supporting the OFLC on this... omg... *slaps self* SNAP OUT OF IT!

Considering this hasn't been released in Australia yet (if i'm wrong, please do tell), i think it might be a good idea to zip it until it is released, so it isn't so blatently obvious how you got it.

Fair enough. But i'm personally of the opinion that the people that think of making these games have something seriously wrong with them. Same with those movies. But as the saying goes "If you build it, they will come". And of course there's going to be a demand for something that's against the law, that's modern day life

Well what about the SAW franchise? and other gore feast movies? If anything movies are more realistic then games and manhunt isn't "state of the art" graphics. At the end of the day I just want to be able to choose what to play instead of someone else choosing for me.

Great points SC and IAC, however, the original Psycho was made some 47 years ago, and I believe that in some movies, you see thru the eyes of the killer, so in effect there really is no difference between the mediums. I think its up to the individual what they take away from each. If youre predisposed to antisocial behaviour, then a game like this will amp that up, as opposed to someone whose playing to blow off steam or whatever.

But it's not a movie, movies are staged for suspense and these things don't actually happen. For example, one of the most famous murder scenes is that shower scene (forgotten the movie), where you never actually see her get stabbed, but it is clear that she is being stabbed. In a game, you control how you're going to kill people (they do limit you, to an extent), but it's a whole lot more real than a movie.

I chose the first option because I'm 100% behind Rockstar for making it. Like com'on if Manhunt2 was a movie there wouldn't be a problem. I think the ratings board need to grow up! they always ban the good games. In all honestly you play games for fun and thats all it is.

It wouldve been interesting to sit in on the development meetings for manhunt, I mean did they seriously think that 1/4 of the game wouldve got thru censorship laws? Ive heard rockstar actually released the patch to take off the execution blurs thru the homebrew scene. They are however, catering to what the public wants. Its the first 'scary/bloody' fps on the psp, and its banning will also make it the most popular, whether thru legit sales, or via d/loading(which is bad).
