Around what graphics level do you run the game at?

BTW have you done the FSX mission "limited options" where your engines fail over the Indian Ocean and you have to glide a 737 to an island?
I did it last night, got it on the 3rd attempt.

And therein lies the problem.

BTW how long does it take to boot up or start an application? (not to be vindictive, I'm just curious)

uh, yeah, cause i have an inbuilt "family" chipset graphics card, nothing to do with vista

Well, shouldn't it be compatible with all computers, considering it's meant to be their universal upgrade?

It's not someone's fault for not having as good a computer, it's microsoft's for making it crap on those computers.

J-FRESH said: Ive heard a few people say vista is bad, outside of mypsp. Sorry I keep forgetting stuff. My budget is under $1500.

$1500 is plentyyyy! You could go $1200 i reckon, just go get some quotes from a couple of computer places, grab the specifications, maybe bring them back and show these guys - not me, i have no idea about that stuff.

I think everythings around medium high.
Nope, haven't done it, I was listening to some of the sounds from FSX and there was a whole lot called Congo, they were for a mission, where both engines failed, I was about to ask you if you've ever done that mission, anyways, how long does it take for you to start FSX up?
Also, what do I need to upgrade, to make my PC go faster after running FSX?

Windows is unfortunately standard amongst computers now-a-days. What you should be looking for is a Home PC not a Basic and not a Gaming.

Get it custom made if you can it's way cheaper and take a quick look at a Linux distro that suits your needs like Ubuntu if your starting.

Hope this helps

Windows is just used for normal, everyday use. Linux and Ubuntu is more of a business type and macs are just computers which are used to play games. In my opinion I like XP, I have tried Vista but I found that too... just too... not my type (if you know what I mean)

Maybe, it might lag a bit cause Vista tries to have to much stuff, like norton anti-virus

Don't get a laptop, overheats, expensive, slow and bad.

Don't get Vista, slow, bugs, bad for network crap alot of games are bad on them, hard to install.

uh, kid, are you saying computers can't overheat, are inexpensive and can't be slow and bad?
EPIC kiddo, epic.
vista; there's different editions... basic for the lower-end pc's and ultimate for the higher-end pc's..
network; agreed, LAN gives me the absolute SHIETS... least i have some sort of lan. wireless working A-OK.
games are bad? PFFT. pretty sure crysis runs a heck of a lot better now that i've installed vista.
bugs? haven't had any apart from a webcam driver problem. but guess what? works now. only other bugs are seriously old programs/apps/games from wayyyyy back not working.

btw. XP is being discontinued. good luck with it in the future.

mac =
mac + vista > pc + vista.

FSX takes me about 2-10 seconds to start up, I found a good dual core processor (2.0GHz+) helps menu times like when selecting aircraft, and as much RAM as possible to load the sim once all set up at least 2GB for it to run nicely without hassle, I didn't play it that much before because with 1GB it would crash saying system ran out of RAM and it just wasn't worth it.
All up a good processor and more RAM make a great difference, but RAM makes the bigger difference, processor mostly just makes menus load quicker and of course does help framerate.
BTW what graphics card do you have, and how much RAM does it have?

I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition

XP may be being discontinued but the updates support are going to last until at least 2011, I think it was 2013. Although we will probably see what happened with XP how games started only having compatibility with XP or higher
