Haha, nahh I understand where you're coming from dude, all PSP's are clever and special 'cause they understand when their battery's low, and that's when they force the sleep mode.
Try it yourself, start a game (save it) and sleep the PSP, remove the battery/charger wait a few minutes, plug back in, and it'll have reset.
Just done it on my phat (oi, no jokes) and that's what happens.
It's always possible you have another model, and Sony have done some clever save state magic on it.
