I don't quite understand your post, I think it goes like this: You have a bone SnS (Bone pick/kris+?) but you decided to use a green lance (or has green sharpness) against Yan Kut Ku and everytime you hit YKK it flashed. I'm guessing you mean either the hit spark it produces or some kind of element the lance produces but you can't beat YKK.

I find Poison Battle Axe to be easiest for YKK, I've taken it down with great swords (Gospel Katana & Dragon Agito) and lances (Steel Knight's Pike) but found SnS to be easiest.

Let me know which weapon you're most comfortable with, Sword&shield, lance, or great sword, and I'll help you build the best weapon and give you tips to take down YKK.

The stupid thing is I ran out of cooked meat and brough my spit along, only to find there were no other creatures on the map to carve and cook! So I was down to my last section of stamina (red) when I took down Ian and had to die against Los because I couldn't even run!

Yeah, sometimes I had to roll twice if they do the tail swipe, plus you can only block one hit from their charge with such low stamina, guard break. You're screwed either way.
