Why are all the movie files i am trying to download and have downloaded are all playing like this. I dont know what is wrong. They just all go like that when i try to play them on my computer.

I get the same kind of distortion when i try to play a video that needs a liscence on my computer vith VLC Media player, (great by the way) Unlike other media playeys like WMP vlc doesnt ask you to download the liscence it just trys to play it. When it doesnt have the liscence i get that same image. So give a different file a try.

i have just realised its the ones i play online and the ones that ask for an extenson that are not working anymore !!, a few are working and some are not, so if some are working it cant be that its my video card. can it

most of the .mpg ones are doing it.
