I'm thinking of putting about $1000 - $1500 into an ING Savings Maximiser account with 5.85% interest per annum. I'm also thinking of splitting the money I earn from my job into about 40:60/45:55/50:50 ratio into my normal Commonwealth Bank: Streamline account and my ING Savings Maximiser account. So I can have the money from my Commonwealth Bank account for day to day transactions and the money in my ING account for saving up.

I'm also thinking of Investing into the Share market. I've heard that BNB is good (Babcock and Brown) they are like an investment banking/finance company, etc. I've also heard that Banking companies, Food companies and energy companies are good bets. I'm only thinking about using around $1000 - $1500 in the share market since I'm noob.

I'm sorry if I'm boring any of you guys, but do any of you guys have any advice for someone like me who is starting out in the sharemarket and banking? What should I do?

hmm nope its not coming back .. something along hte lines of it wsant going to make a difference when u get to 40 or so (when u will be selling the shares if htey last that long) if uve had the shares for an extra 3 years or so. and theres no point risking ur savings atm .. and putting urself on a tight budget while ur so young still.

wow not much has been happening here since i last posted; well, i just got capped after only 2 weeks of my ADSL2+ service being installed.. not too bad, getting capped at 128/128 (upload and download still @ 16kb/s when i'm capped).. i am loving my ADSL2+ speeds, although i still haven't bought myself an adsl2+ modem/router yet; i actually don't think i'll need to, i'm already getting speeds ranging 200 - 450kb/s with my old ADSL1 modem on this connection.. any faster and i think i'll be getting capped within a week of the billing period. anyways, i get uncapped in a couple of days

well i had my first exam today, and i gunned it hard! ;D no more networking & operating systems for me enterprise security here i come !
