Blu-ray is the future in discs. A Blu-ray disc can hold 50GB of data (thats 15 000 songs for all you music lovers!). EVERY! PS3 game is on a blu-ray disc and EVERY ps3 game is in HD! In the next few years, HD and Blu-ray will be everywhere and those standard definition, 5GB DVD's will be history. So im gonna put it this way for you all. Blu-ray player - about $1500 to $2000. A Playstation 3 - $999. stuff the wii

Oh and nother reason for PS3... For all your Blu-Ray titles you can forget about regions, PS3 plays any region Blu-Ray games & movies (I own a Jap PS3 with 2 US Titles and 1 AUS movie, all work fine)...

Well... Blu-Ray writers are already out... The blank media is *relatively* cheap... It's about $26 US for a 5-Pack on the net...
The Blu-Ray Disc (single sided/single layered) can hold 25GB so a DL&DS disc can hold 100GB. All the games use Blu-Ray and are quite large. ie. Resistance = 16GB. Movies are expensive at the moment, but there will be a price drop

(this is the same shop in vietnam that was selling illegal games but had legit ps3 games)
i just think that over time, both the ps3 and the blu rays are gonna drop in price. heck, they might even make pink ray disks with 100gb capacity or even a curd covered disk with 200gb capacity!

They probably will, but not for a few years to come. Capacity-wise Blu-Ray is the clear winner (compared to the HD-DVD SS/SL 15GB Capacity), but content-wise we will have to wait and see...

Yeah sony offers the PS3 at a discounted price(so there not making money) inorder to inflitrate the technology into you home; however considering the ps3 has failed miserably in the USA; im not convince it is the winner.
Another thing i read is that inorder to keep the price down sony used slower bluray drives; in the ps3; what does that mean load times take longer. The biggest detrimine factors at the moment whether bluray and the ps3 will succed will be the ISO loader thats currently being worked on and whatever is easiest to Pirate HD or Bluray; interesting though muslix64 has cracked the protection on both for the time being.

i bought my xbox 360 the week that it got released in australia. a week later i bought far cry instincts. i traded it back in because it is CRAP. i do not recomend that game to anybody

Cheap in an expensive way.
Your gonna need a HDTV but to truly experience full HD you will need your tv to display 1080p lucky for me i have a HDTV but only 1080i same goes for Blu-ray movies(1080p)Yes Blu-ray is the future but in the next 5years or less from now it will be obsolete. There working on something else which is beyond blu-ray. Technology is moving fast, by the end of the year there will be a 500gb blu-ray disc.Sony and Panasonic want you to believe standard dvds are history but consumer's want a cheaper option it will be a while before it becomes a medium.I predict by the end of the year The PS3 will outsell the Xbox360 and the Nintendo wii might suprise us all because its cheaper.
At the end of the year we will see who wins the next-gen console war in sales. PS3 all the Way!!!

I just hope blu-ray doesnt go the same way. Alot of money is being invested in this technology. From what i hear HDTV is gonna give it a good run for its money.

Then again standard DVD are not dead in the water just yet.
