An unlucky PS3 owner registered his newly purchased system on PSN for the first time to discover that police investigators were watching. When logging onto the PlayStation Network the console automatically signed into the previous owner’s account, allowing the console to be tracked via IP Address.
Dustin Weller, from Cleveland in the United States received the console from his fiancée as a gift in June. Less than a month later Dustin was shocked by police investigators arriving at his home to inform him that the PlayStation 3 console was stolen and to demand answers on how Mr. Weller acquired the device.
Weller’s fiancée purchased the console from 3D-Games thinking it would be a nice gift considering her soon to be husband had recently suffered a shoulder injury. The police confiscated the PS3 leaving Mr. Weller without his precious console. In a positive spin 3D-Games supplied Mr. Weller with a replacement Xbox 360 free-of-charge.
