yes and no, some laptop motherboards actually glue their processors on, however I don't think they would do this. Other things you must conisder is heat. Do you have good enuff cooling for you laptop? my alienware 3.4ghz laptop easily gets into 40C under load and this was with 5 fans. If you really need speed then I would consier getting a pc. As for price depending on whether you get AMD or Intel and also what type of processor you get you would be looking upwards of 300 dollars.
