Mate you HAVE to either buy Metal Gear Solid (ps1) or buy a gamecube and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - this is the first 3d game in the series.

Then you have to buy Metal Gear Solid 2: Songs of Liberty or Substance for your ps2.

Then you have to buy and play Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater or Subsistence.

THEN you should buy Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.

It is harder to find an MSX or NES to play the first installment 'Metal Gear.'

But if you would like to begin at the beginning watch this.
