any designers in the forum? just wondering what ur thoughts are on Microsoft Expression? im studyin to become a graphics designer myself. found a site with the free trial version, but it looks it has limited access.

I'm a designer mate. My advice is to steer clear of anything microsoft for design work. You want to keep to industry standards you will be using them when you are out in the workforce.

I suggest sticking to;

Dreamweaver
photoshop
illustrator
Indesign
Go live
Image ready
Flash
Fire works

I'm totally with Lexx, Adobe and Macromedia, if your into design, make sure your strong with Html and html extensions. Definitely know how to use flash, Photoshop and dreamweaver.

And again, backing lexx with the steering clear of microsoft, i'm sure the software is fine, but its more of a market share thing, go for an industry standard.

It's true that chicks are a minority on gaming sites. I have 3 female members on my site (but went looking for them) just to mix it.
As for IT and design - there are a few geekesses, but the top designers tend to be male. Any graphic design course will be more than half chicks, they just seem to disappear by the time you get into the workforce?
