hey hey hey......

im all for free speech BUT just be mindful of others in this arena. yes, i agree with you that death is not a solution to the 'problem'.

if you word it like that then im all for your remarks, however calling people dogs, scum, etc isnt appropriate and does not contribute to this issue and more importantly address why this happened.

right or wrong, when people take not only their own life but other lives then you need to think that there was a serious problem with this individual. the authorities will look at this and try determine why this happened.

my dad had a saying...its a common saying....

"if you havent got anything good to say about someone, then dont say anything. silence is more powerful"

i didnt know chris, i didnt know chris's family. its a terrible thing whats happened. i havent got the right to judge him. so unless you know him or know what happened to him leading up to these terrible events, you shouldnt have the right to judge him either.

thats for GOD to judge

God .. heh .. lets plllleease not bring 'him' into it (as we dont know for SURE if it's a 'man' )

As much as "judging" him goes, i can't see why not personally. We're just little avatars and usernames on a forum a very small minority of this worlds population are aware of. Sure, a celebrity, no way you'd comment on this, but us? Seriously, a man 'clearly' kills his wife and child. That is the lowest act imaginable (in hindsight).

lol lets see...people who are little avatars and unsernames on a forum.....well that i know of anyway:

1 current serving police officer (uniform)
1 current serving police officer on a task force involving software piracy
1 current serving police officer on a task force involving child pornography
2 solicitors
1 fireman
2 sony employees
1 eb games employee

Assuming that this is being directed at me, I too am all for free speech. And I am mindful of what I say. But I have been affected by suicide and I know what it's like. I know these people have problems. All they need to do is open up and TALK. But no, they choose to stay where they are and rot. Then they do something stupid like kill themselves... which to an extent.. I can say... fine. It is selfish, you are robbing others of a brother, sister, child, parent, friend. But then when you extend one step further and take the life of someone else? Come on - you just gonna sit there and say that's ok because he had problems? HELL NO! That's what's wrong with today's society - everyone wants to talk about things... but thats another topic

As for the jobs that people on this site have..

I say Bravo! Fantastic! We need the diversity. And its good to have people sometimes remind Administrators on this site about their responsibilities. I for one am not up-to-date about the latest legal responsibilites in Oz. If someone sent me a pm, I'd gladly comply. To date I just use my common sense.

As much as this place is for like minded people to communicate, we have had people that are not exactly "like minded" and we dealt with them appropriately.

So knowing what people do is a bonus! And you have to remember the net is not a private place where you can get away with things. Technology is advancing and if anyone really need to track you down (and had access to such technology) they will. That's why I belive all the "mature" members here know this and only post useful info.

I do not believe I need to know what people do. If they want to disclose that, then that's great.

But privacy is another issue altogether, isn't it?

Meh, but that's my speel. I hope that I do not see the reaction I am half expecting from this conversation.

Had to double post, otherwise it would not fit.

If you don't care, then why did you bother to comment?

I feel sorry for Benoit's wife and son, not to mention their friends and family. I also sorta feel sorry for Benoit too. He must have been realy messed up to do what he did. It's a tragedy for all those involved.

no, it wasnt specifically directed to you.

i too have been affected by suicide and have abit of experience both personally and proffesionally. all i can say is this. it is too easy to judge someone and it is too easy to say that they should speak up.

i think all the blame is not his. after all, there would have been changing signs of his behaviour. there would have been other things OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE PICKED UP ON.

we all have a support network. that is, it could be our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends etc. didnt anyone else notice what was going on? didnt anyone else do anything about this?

sorry....didnt fit in one post.....

people dont just wake up one day and think to themselves "hey im gonna top myself today together with my family". they have to go through (albeit a very dramatic change) a change in their behavoir. someone must have seen this.

this my friends is speaking from experience.

now think of this.....if you have something troubling you isnt it human nature for one of your support network members to say "hey...whats wrong? is there anything i can do?"

he might have been thinking....well no one cares...

this is just a thought. like i said previously. we dont know what exactly happened. so im not going to judge the man. NOR DO I FORGIVE HIM FOR WHAT HE HAS DONE.

I just saw a small article in today's Herald Sun that I think is worth mentioning.
Here it it:
US authorities have dropped an investigation into Wikipedia entries from the US and Australia that posted news of wrestler Chris Benoit's wife's murder 14 hours before her body was discovered.
An American Internet vandal has confessed to adding a reference to the death of Benoit's wife, but says it was only a rumor and "a huge coincidence" that his posting was made before police found her body.
But the Australian entry made after the US entry remains a mystery.

luvmypsp said:we all have a support network. that is, it could be our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, relatives, friends etc. didnt anyone else notice what was going on? didnt anyone else do anything about this?

Dont generalise there mate. Some people don't, remember he's a wrestler, probably on tour most of the time. His support would be his wife, it may not filter onto his parents, because he probably doesn't have much to do with them since he has gotten older and more self-sufficient.

Personally though, there's things - as a teenager - that i wouldn't even think of sharing with my parents. Same goes for my brother. Other rellies i barely see. And friends, well a lot of them aren't reliable. Half the time, friends are the reason for problems. So you can see how a "support network" can be non-existant.

I'm in no way saying that this was a reason for what he did - a much MUCH worse problem, i think ...

PS. If you use EDIT on the original post, you can make it longer. So you don't have to double post, just to let you know

I agree with what IAC said - not everyone has a support network and often than not, people are too self absorbed in today's world to even care what happens to someone else.

Oh and IAC - I have to say, there is a limit to how much you can post... I hit the limit quite quickly when i was replying to him before.
