Well, not me .. but a relative is.

Going to Thailand. I would just like to know what's legal and illegal to bring back, technology-wise.

Are you still able to buy compatible games/dvd's etc? and then bring them back?

And what about consoles, could i buy say a PS3 or 360, and get it back over here, and it being reliable and actually work?

hmmm well I went to malaysia, a friend of mine got a DS lite and it worked all right, for bringing back technology it's all good the only things that you can't bring back are weapons, drugs and dirt as for DVD's and games make sure they are the same region first or region free

I'm going to brunei and singapore next tuesday possibly, You can bring back any electronic stuff including cd's etc as long as you declare them and it's not a retail amount you are safe. people try sell stuff without internatonal warranties etc and without all the cables so be careful and check what your getting in the deal.

luvmypsp could probably help you with this more than anyone else, customs aren't as strict as I thought, it's easy to get things out of the country your in but sometimes you can't bring it back into your country.

Yeah you can buy technology stuff and you should be fine, just make sure if you are buying a ps3 or 360 thats from a legit shop and not some dodgey market. Lets say you buy a dvd recorder or a laptop, you will have to pay tax on it on your way back. Go to the duty free shops!!! you'll save heaps. You won't be able to bring anything back through customs that can be used as a weapon.

Most tings are compatible, as long as they arent from the scary guy in the alley. And they are from a legit seller.

Agreed on that shocker. Just watch what you say vomit.

Thanks heaps for all your responses everyone, sheesh, i didn't expect that much Just about everyone of those posts well helpful too lol.

I think i'll be telling them to just buy whatever is cheap, maybe avoid buying a console .. that's just too big of a risk.

Yes, mil - you can. They are found at any good store.

I wouldn't trust buying anything too expensive. when they come back, if it doesn't work, you can't take it back easily now can you?

my friend bought a whole lot of PC games when he went overseas, none of them worked. one of them, when installing, started opening up system folders lol/.

What the hell Ledge?

Only one person said anything about piracy?

I was asking about purchasing legal stuff over there, and if it was legal to bring back here. In which case, if it IS legal, then we have no problem here.

Go ahead ban me

@mrfishy
the power in singapore is the same as aus but the plugs are different it's a uk plug I think...I got a converter for $10.
Some good places to shop from what I've been told are: little india, china town and orchard road, if your looking for a bargain you can sometimes get good deals at the markets but beware of "dodgy deals".
