Depends what you wanna achieve. Theres one where u get a dish of water and put heaps of pepper over the top to form a layer, then, dip a toothpick in and nothing will happen, but dip the toothpick in detregent first, and then in the water, and all the pepper will go to the sides of the bowl.
This demos surface tension and its principles.

@BJ2 I did a similar thing with a garbage bag, a piece of rag and an oxy, It makes an extremely loud fireball and if you blink you'll miss it. For my year 10 science class I made a really nice spud cannon with a BBQ ignition and everything...still havent gotten bored of it!

i did this in class. get a clear pen made of plastic. put it under the bunson and move it round, the plastic melts (duh!!) and leaves you with a realy cool effect, you can even melt it down to the ink tube, but that doesn't melt as quickly so dont leave it under there lol
