Ok, I'm really p!ssed right now.

Windows said it had to update, so I said yes, download and install. so it did, but then, right before it finished installing, my computer crashed. My BRAND-NEW computer.

It wouldn't start up any way I tried, so I had to do system recovery.

But now my damn speakers won't work.

ANY IDEAS?!

Is it in Safe Mode, Insectoid? You said you have Vista in some other thread. I know with Vista the speakers don't work in Safe Mode, but everything is fine in normal mode.

Also could be that since you have done a restore the audio drivers have gone, Reinstall the drivers and see if that works.

Try this:

Control Panel>Add Hardware>Yes already connected

Then up the top it should have a yellow explamation mark next to 'Audio Controller'. Click 'Next' then 'Finish'. It will bring up the install thing, click Automatically install then it should install all the drivers and u should be OK.

This may not work but i had same problem as you and i did that and it worked

Not with Vistas track record of driver issues. If it came with a disc for the drives then I highly suggest as all other members did and just reinstall them.
