News \ Japan Addicted to the PSP

Japanese gamers have a serious addiction to the PSP, or so it would seem with Sony’s portable console topping the sales charts for the week ending July 20. Not only has it remained in top place it has beaten its nearest competitor, Nintendo’s highly successful (especially in Japan) Nintendo DS by 20,000 units.

Sales have been attributed to factors including to a new blue PSP console being released, which has been bundled with the fan favourite 1seg TV tuner accessory. For the moment Japan just can’t get enough of the PSP.

Japanese sales figures week ending July 20 2008

It can happen, but I wouldn't say it's a massively widespread problem.
