Or, whether you simply get capped to a slower speed by going over the limit or are in peak times.

If you get 3G wireless (or almost any wireless for that matter), the main problem you'll have will be with latency as opposed to bandwidth speed. Normal web browsing is fine but for online games, latency can have an impact.

try www.ozemail.com.au/ or iinet as it is now known and on their site they have a telephone number availabillity thing where you just enter in your phone number and it tells you if you can get broadband, seriously it sucks to not have it. iinet provides reliable internet that isn't too expensive, and BTW no 1GB is probably not going to be enough, I had 1GB for 6 months and it was so limiting, I couldn't get anything extra besides regular usage and game patches.
