i personaly think it is a great thing and he's taken the step that john howard couldn't do himself. It is definitly a good start anyway.

i also think that the oposition leader didn't realy want to apologise, but didn't want to look like a hipocryt against rud. It was right for everyone to turn their backs to him.

what are your thoughts?

Everyone has to admit that even though it hurt alot of families it also helped to get them educated.
Aboriginals want money once the government admits they did wrong but rudd says no...thank god.

I've lived at aboriginal communities (towns) my whole life, I have many aboriginal friends.

The aboriginals in the NT are real and have alot of traditional ways and culture, they still hunt sea turtles, dewgong, crocs and they have nasty initiations into manhood and even worse punishments I can't say...do they do that stuff down south??? lol I think not.

I've never known an aboriginal person who hunts turtle and dewgong, its mostly the Torres Strait Islanders who do that.

Howard wouldn't say sorry because it's admitting that the government did wrong which the government never wanted to do because aboriginals wanted money just like now except rudd has said the government is just awknowledging it so Aus can move on and there will be no money handed out.
If you could see what it's like in the NT your views would be different on this subject, if you could see how taxpayers money is put to use.

There trying to now by bringing in grog ID cards (if you buy more than $100 worth they write your details down), no drinking within about 5km radius around every town in the NT and bottle O's open at 2pm and close at 8pm instead of 12pm to 9pm, it's made quite a difference to tell the truth.
