depends which ps3 all american 60gb ps3's play every ps2 game, but the pal 60gb only plays most

the pal ps3 uses software emulation to play ps2 games. But the US and jap model have the ps2 chip so they have full backwards compatibility

They do make PAL 80GB models but they are not as common as the 40GB ones.

@ Pongo
The 60GB and the 80GB models have backwards compatibility but they are like 850 for the 80GB, the 40GB and 20GB(NTSC only) don't have backwards compatibility.
