Fight Night Round 3 - 8/10

The Game has several modes for you to delve into.

You can choose to start your own career of replay as one of history’s greatest champions which even includes Muhammed Ali! There are various rules you can follow – hard hits or career mode. In here, you can raise the status of your personal champion or rebuild one. You can also choose to freeplay against any opponent of your choice, however some require you to unlock them through the career mode. You can also choose to play some historic match ups or play challenges to get medals and money – like knocking out an opponent that is always on their feet or a guy that keeps taunting.

By choosing the right trainer, cutman to heal you between rounds, and your gear from trunks, shoes, tattooes, mouthguard and bodyprotectors to the kind of music you have as your intro to the ring, the special effects that encourage you to get up one more time from a KO and the ring girl that inspires you to go that extra mile harder… Taunting your opponent also goes down very well, for you that is… not your opponent…

In short – FNR3 is a good game that will get you involved in so many different levels, that keeping the PSP down will be hard to do, especially when you’re jumping higher and higher in the record books.

Gameplay: yeah its replayable and that’s what you love about it. However, choose wisely for your mistakes cannot be undone. The choice between money, morals and ranking is always tested. For these two reasons alone – it gets an awesome 9/10

Graphics: The graphics of the fighters are awesome. However the Historic Champions don’t look like they do… but that is easily overcomed by the fact that the strategy they used in real life is simulated in your game. But when you find your groove, not even Ali can stand a chance, unless he pulls out that damn shuffle! But the graphics of the surroundings like the audience is deplorable. It seems all the effort was put into the fighters/the ring/special effects that other things were taken for granted. Still – it’s a 7/10

Sound: Well, that satisfying punch goes well with the crunch of the jaw/teeth/blood/broken mouthguard. The special effects are amazing along with the cheers of the crowd – it really gets you moving… and wills you onto to that next KO! Plus the songs in there are truly for fighters… blood pumping, super cool, GANGSTA! You can even play them separately through the EA pocket trax – something I believe that all games should allow you to do. Kudos to EA for putting this in! I hope more companies follow their footsteps.

A job well done – 10/10

Multiplayer: Well, who wants to go against someone that has taken down Muhammad Ali in two rounds on the hard setting?! Anyone? Yeah that’s right. I thought so!

Overall: Just one fun game that is very addictive on the PSP – had to go to PSP anonymous after playing this game. Never had my thumbs swelled up so much from playing a game since Tekken was released on the playstation!
