Social \ Nitro, Petrol or the nice and easy Electric

Since I've had my Slash I've been feeling like I've been missing out on something, its 4WD.
People have been begging Traxxas for a Nitro Slash, so they gave them one, its not released yet but its going to be called the Traxxas Slayer.
I'm going to save up for the Slayer but I don't know if I should keep Nitro or convert to petrol or Electric, if I went to electric I would most deffinently buy the Mamba Max 7700, but should I keep nitro or go to petrol?

Pros and Cons please.

my rc monster truck was fun untill i crashed it into the trailer in my front yard. The front lights on it smashed and i gave up on rc stuff

I agree, cars are good for wee ones, but you have to remember, most people here ARE wee ones... My little ones are cutting their RC teeth on cars, mostly 4wd's but they are switchable for some two wheel wheelie action. They are 3 and 7, and is a good start for them. I have seen adults race cars and just found it kind of pathetically funny really. Yeah they were fast little cars, but even if you have a great one you can seriously drift with, to me it doesnt compare to a real car doing the same thing. I guess tho for some it is just fun, or maybe they cant afford or have the room to fly a plane, in which case a helicopter would not be for them without the experience. Boats are kind of fun if you have a nice rooster tail thrower.

All in all it just comes down to preferences really. Some just like little cars/trucks to drive around, and even i take a turn with the kids on occasion. Some choose cars because of limited room to fly a plane/heli. Some just like boats. It is a hobby and there are so many hobbies for all kinds of people. Spoon collecting, matchbooks, antiques, faberge eggs, toys, figures, comics... Bottom line it comes down to whatever floats your boat.

As for the question. Get what YOU like and want to play with. Matters not what others think. Make yourself happy first and foremost and just have fun, that is what it is all about. So if you are that torn, why not get one of each?

They are fricken expensive, not like your little barbie dolls over there, a nice RC heli or car for a begginer is probaly around $300. So tell your story, but this is just a thread about Pros and cons about Petrol, Nitro and Electric.

I dont think it'll be long before electrics take over fully. Electrics get plenty of bang for your buck, but when considering electrics the Lipos are still expensive, your looking at about $80 each at a shop (although cheaper at an online store, about %57) for one that powers my plane.

I hope electric takes over, so the petrol guys stop telling us how easy petrol is, I like electric, easy and clean, but the Mamba Max 7700 is about $300 so I hope it goes good.

Electric is good, but will only improve over the next couple years. In fact hydrogen has entered to a viable possibility as well. Give it a year and we shall see tho. Gas is gas, it works, and electric is probably close to good enuff to use over gas now.

now quit complaining about the cost, and buy one of each! Okay, you cant afford it, buy electric if you can afford to charge it up. As for dolls, you know i can sell an original darth vader figure for at least 300 bucks? Collecting anything can cost a fortune, double that at least for oz.
