theps3 will be in australia/NZ in november 2006
it will shp with a 60GB HDD standard (the hdd supports Linux OS and can be used as a home server)
there will be a hi-def eyetoy avalible
with the online play, you will be able to use the same nickname and list of freinds across all games
you will be able to dl gamecontent, and bootable software (the bootable content is said to be retro ps1 games and other games, demos and characters)

and the basic online server is free
and of course, backwards compatibility
and the rumors of conecting your psp to the ps3 is true, it will conect via wi-fi

given the success of Live they would be stupid not to copy it... and dude... unlike Sony... Microsoft have proven that they know how to deliver when it comes to online gaming. They offered better service and features in the last generation and Sony know that... which is why they are playing catch up. Xbox Live has been in constant development since the last generation so your suggestion that Sony thought of it first is ignorant and naive. They obviously saw that Microsoft had set the standard and duplicated it... they would be stupid not to with the features and success of Live. I'm sure they will have a headset for their online gaming too.. which would not be 'copying' Microsoft... it would just be common sense to have it.

SONY BASIC is like the silver subscription to xbox live, Its free, But not as good as gold...
