How to take Screenshots of UMD games and your XMB

This is just a short guide on how to take clear screenshots and GIF animations in your PSP's XMB or whilst playing a UMD game. This is a completely safe method and the only hazard is experimentation in the recovery menu.

Requirements:

• PSP with CUSTOM FIRMWARE (3.03 OE-C – 3.30 OE-A most compatible)
• PRX PLUGIN svCAPTURE .5 (Click to download)

Method:

Step one: First of all Turn on your PSP and head over to USB mode.

Step two: Unzip the files.

Step three: Now double click on the install.exe. This will copy over the GIF viewer, which is homebrew that allows you to watch you recorded gif animations. This will also copy over the actual plugin and prepare it for activation.

Step four: Now completely turn off your psp and boot it in recovery mode. (Once its off, just hold the R trigger and turn it back on), Once in the recovery mode (MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MESS AROUND WITH ANYTHING HERE UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING, STICK TO THE GUIDE) simply navigate down to the plugin's selector and press X, Now it should have three options (unless you are using other Plug ins), these options are Back, capture.prx [VSH] and capture.prx [Game] . Just navigate over each capture.prx and press X and it should refresh and say Enabled.

Note:

Sometimes these are already enabled in that case, just exit recovery menu.

Step five: once both are already enabled then your good to leave the recovery menu. Do this by simply selecting back and then Exit.

Step six: Now you should be in your XMB, press the “note” button, and it'll take a screenshot which will be stored in your memory sticks directory (MS:\\PSP\PHOTO\Screen1.bmp) Use the button in a UMD game to take photos.
