Not Tae Kwon Do but I did Kenpo for 4 years. Reached my green belt (one belt below Brown 1) but I stopped because the gym was expanding and asking for more money and 90% of the time all we did was punch bags. Greed can kill even the most headstrong men.

I tried Tae Kwon Do for a bit...but it was too flashy for me. As powerful as their legs are, the majority of those kicks wouldn't survive very long on the street. But for point sparring...WHOOOM haha.

I might start martial arts again...maybe Go Kan Ryu or Aikido. Something philosophical yet barraging at the same time. Any suggestions?

Apparentyl muay thai and ninjitsu are the most deadly forms of martial arts out and ninjitsu should be very philosophical

Hard to find any Ninjutsu instructors in Sydney...then again, I think Ninjutsu is one of the most overrated martial arts. Its blown way out of proportion in movies and most of the basics (and some advanced) moves are strikingly similar to Kenpo and Karate.

Now Muay Thai sounds very appeasing. I might consider that. But that shit needs some serious discipline. Not sure which Pacific island exactly but in one of them, kids train in Muay Thai by kicking (yes..KICKING) banana tree trunks with their shins...and I don't mean just tapping them...I'm talking full out rip the bark off the trunks!

Actually, pinoyplaya, there's a certain style of Wing Chun Kung Fu that I'm interested in. Though, some say its not the traditional Wing Tsun method seeing as most of the kicks aim above the belt. My legs are...how you so...effing long!
I for one love to use my long legs as an advantage even at close quaters combat. That's where Kenpo failed me, sadly.
When it came to sparring, my arms were practically useless. I always envied the Kung Fu hand katas and the speed they had in them.

I'd still reccomend 'jeet kun do' kung fu if you can find a trainer-- this' Bruce Lee's kung fu and it's the most philisophical martial arts i've seen- he basically studied all types of martial arts and then came up with it... he was a genius, never mind wat u saw in his films--

for a standard martial arts tho- muay thai IS the strongest- and it's got a very strong real-world value as most martial-arts (karate, tae-kwon-do, judo, aikido etc., etc.) don't. it's called the 8-point fighting...something :-P -- you use hands feet, elbows and knees-- I have really long legs as well, and kicks are really hard to use, but knees (and elbows) are incredibly effective in close quarters. in most fighting styles, elbows and knees are taboo, but that's why muay thai's so much realer than alotta other ones- in a real fight, they're awesome.
