I did the same test while on a camp a few years back. My Creative Zen 5gb against the 4gb iPod Mini. First of all the stock head phones from both devices we tested on the iPod at full output. Creatives were almost twice as loud. Sound quality for songs on tested on each player and on both sets of head phones- Zen won again.
I was going to buy an iPod Mini that year but when I realised that for a simple $20 more I got load of extra stuff and a extra gb of storage.
I read a review about two years ago on Top 5 HDD Mini Mp3 players. Guess the results-
1 Zen
2 iPod
3 I-River

I don't fanboy anything but I just know a good buy when I see one.

frankie: i suppose if u really want the zune, there's nothing stopping you and it does come recommended by eversuns and his merry men =) i suppose if u dun wanna share and like it's a sufficient player. but consider creative, they've been there since the beginning.

btw isn't a k700 just a sony ericsson? i was talking more like a w-series like w800i with a f***load of gigabytes...
