No this isn’t madness, it was probably always going to happen. However it has been confirmed that Brash Entertainment intend on releasing games based on SAW and indeed 300, as well as several other movie licences.

Brash Entertainment have managed to whip up funds of $400 million in order to back their games which are all promised to be based on movies. They have five studios to work with, and are currently working on twelve new titles, two of which are the aforementioned SAW and 300.

The first batch of games will been seen this holiday season, thanks to Warner Bros. and their distribution abilities (they have also started distributing for Codemasters and Eidos). Brash Entertainment also have another forty games currently in development, something which is no mean feat.

Brash Entertainment enter a sticky world of licence games. Usually dominated by EA with Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, with Activision having Spider-Man on board and THQ partnering Pixar Films. Brash Entertainment hope to muscle in on the big boys, which isn’t a bad thing at all, as it might just start to encourage the bigger developers to produce better film-to-game conversions.

Hopefully all goes well for Brash Entertainment and they produce some quality games. However, jumping straight in with people who have some strong licences at their disposal seems madness…

Um, I'm sorry guys but if manhunt was banned and Manhunt 2 is not going to be released in Aus(correct me if I am wrong on this part), I don't think something like SAW will be released here...

1) Becasue people are weak minded and can be easily led.

2) Games are getting soo good that they blur the lines between the virtual and real (hence point 1)

3) Manhunt on wii... cmon.... please! And now saw...

Those my opinions anyway....

then they should enforce games harder...so that we can actually get games like this in australia and not have to test your luck on ebay!

there are games out there that should be R rated, but instead are rated MA15+, example; the warriors the game. this game is so violent, more violent than the movie that it should be rated R, and the movie is rated R aswell but it shouldnt be.

Both very fair points.

I have noticed that only some places actually look at who they are selling the games to. Some stores do ask the adult who the game is for and how old. If the parent is a "good" parent... then they would know what its all about and not be buying it or get the true feedback... and maybe make a bad choice.. i don't know....

I think you need to be more responsible in every layer from the time the game leaves the developers to the end users hands...
