Today i found out that a kid in my class had printed off a picture from my myspace that had a photo of him arguing with my teacher... and he has given it to the principle, apparently tomorrow im about to get in alot of trouble(suspension) i hear. Do you guys know much about this? like anything i can say in my defence...because i cant see why he found it offensive

well, posting pictures of yourself or others on the internet is the worst thing you could possibly do. anyone could get your picture and print it. who knows what they could do.. remember next time to never do it again. take the pic off. never put yourself on the internet, its a big place....

Did this kid at the time know the picture was being taken? If not, then I can understand why this kid is not happy. But did you take the photo? Or was it someone else? If it wasn't you, then the photographer should also get into trouble. Also, did you have this kids permission to use their photo on your myspace? If not, then again you can and will get into trouble. It's all about privacy.

yes the kid did know the photo was being taken cuz i had the camera smack bang in his face...its not violent at all. as a photograph it just looks like 2 normal people yelling at each other. But i thaught the whole idea about MYspace was that it was "my" space...shouldnt i have the right to post whatever i like, unless it is offensive( which its not) what has this world come to.

Dude, Thats a bit harsh anyway.. a suspension for putting a photo of an argument.. Well just say i didnt want to cause any issues, I just use MySpace as a daily blog of my life.. And if its 'MY'Space, Its my personal oppinion..

Well just take the photos off for now and let them know that you didnt intentionally put them up to be offensive material, and if they still continue to suspend you, maybe threaten to bring the issue to the press lol... this sort of publicity usually scares/threatens the principal/reputation of the school.

anything placed on the internet for 'public' viewing is not considered private. now just because the other party knew his photo was being taken does not imply consent.

consent is when the other party agrees to have his picture taken. that is he says yes, you can take a picture

so, how does the newspaper get away with it? well in the case of public figures, consent is implied because they are in the public arena and photos are allowed to be taken. photos of criminals are also allowed, after they have been tried and convicted because they 'waive' their rights to be photographed.

people who are not tried and convicted often have their face distorted to cover their identity.

so in the case of the person you took the photo of, you did not have his expressed consent to take the photo. nor did you have the right to then publicly advertise his face on the internet.

This happened to a friend of mine, he took a video of our 70 year old teacher dancing... Put it on youtube, then he got caught, when he went to the principal, the principal said that if the teacher didnt mind it being on there, it wasnt a big deal.

@ repop.....nah i dont mind people asking. i guess some of the other users in mypsp already know as ive spoken about this before.

mypsp is one of my favourite sites to visit and i like to contribute as best i can. sometimes it might be just giving my opinion. sometimes its giving a legal perspective. sometimes its just crap

well it really depends on what the school charter is. that is what the school expects out of their students. they no doubt would have their policies and guidelines and are following those. in addition to that the educational department would have their own policies as well.

what ever happens, cop it on the chin and move on. what ever you do, dont plead ignorence. ignorence is no excuse.

try being honest and see if you can bargain something out of this without being expelled.

ahh....he made threats to you? now that is another story. if you can play this smart you can get out of this.

how?

simple.....record the threat. i wont tell you how to do it. suffice to say if you do it right you will get more out of this then you bargained for. and it will be all GOOD !
