Its a bit hard to play an instrument when your working with rap/hiphop music. There's only a few beats, effects, and the lyrics and thats the song.

Songs I Can Play:
(Insert many random obscure Scottish/Irish traditional songs here)
Also play with the school orchestra, currently were doing the rockstar theme from Shrek (borrring) and the theme from Shindlers list. (which can be problematic when it comes to the School Christmas concert...)

I also play a bit of Bass, and I can play just loads of random rifts really, but I dont have a bass so I rarely get to practice

And a bit of Keyboard, which I play random bits of songs, random full songs. Go me.

And Air guitar, I play that,

There's nothing wrong with playing Fur Elise. Over done or not, it's still a beautiful piece.
As for people playing it badly, it all comes down to the pianists interpretation of the music.
Although I must admit that I hate it when someone rushes through it. It's as though they can't wait to get it over and done with. It should be taken slowly, so that you can enjoy every note (not too slowly though).

lol I have Moonlight Sonata on my ipod.

I would love to be able to play like that. It's a great piece to relax to.

One day I will get the motivation and learn to play again.

(I'm lazy)

I think I play it pretty well.

and it doesn't always come down to interpretation, you need some skill as well

Itunes might not have everything that I like, but they do have Moonlight Sonata.

And yes, skill is needed (Fur Elise played by someone with skill was implied), but those with skill can still interpret the music differently.
Just because on person likes something done one way doesn't mean it's the right way.
I don't think there is a right or wrong way with some pieces.
It's up to the individual who's listening. All the pianist can do is play as best they can, and hope that the listeners love that version as much as the pianist does.

But isn't that the point of music? Self expression? Regardless of who composed what, music, played with or without skill, is all about expressing yourself. It's the same with all other forms of art.
