Motherboard
RAM
Hard Drive
DVD Player/Burner
Processor
Graphics Card/Video Card - Same thing.
Sound Card - Sound/recording ports ect. - Sound cards usually have it built in, as do most new motherboards.
USB ports - Motherboard will already have usb ports, most likely.

Case
Power supply
Network card.
Fans
Monitor

Ethernet Cables, power cable(s), keyboard, mouse

Also, I'd just like the point out that wireless is fine for online gaming, provided you have decent wireless signal strength.

its best to get from computer online store or go to a store and buy direct.

Youll have to put in the USB Ports etc.

Look at the back of your computer some time. See the usb ports, near the mouse and keyboard ports? Those, my friend, are on the motherboard. You can also get front mounted usb ports, if you feel it's necessary. Or get a usb hub. OR a keyboard with a built in usb hub.

I recently set up a system with 8 usb ports, 2 more on the monitor, and two more on the keyboard

well guys, a shop called masterlink near me sells all i need.

The guy told me that i could get a decent (but not awsome) computer for around 1200. it's main specs are:
core 2 duo 2.2ghz processor
2gb kingstor ram 667mhz
gigabyte (or something) motherboard (middle of the range he said)
Sony SATA DVD burner
8600 GT 512mb graphics/video

and they said they can make it for me (i don't know how) for an extra $85.

it looks good, good option for me cause i don't what to get online

@ bj2 - uhh, yucky!

cpu - uhh.. d/w, it's alright
ram - try getting 800mhz 2x1gb kit
gigabyte mobo - what one though? doesn't help just saying it's brand
sony SATA dvd burner - wish i had a sata burner - pioneer is more reliable btw
8600 gt 512mb gfx - it's alright

85 for them to make it is a littttle harsh, but if you dont know anyone who can do it for you, just get them to do it

My place (established company) charge $80 for build, making sure the parts are compatible, ringing me if things arent to fix them, and doing all the hardware testing to make sure it all works.
A bit pricey, but still will let me sleep better at night.

i want a computer like that dj,
where did you buy your parts????

i don't wanna be spending tons of money (although i would probably have to lol) to get a kick arse PC. I don't mind slightly lowering the graphics on realy good games, as long as it's still decent and can play most games well.
