Hi guys,
I went overseas who knows how many times and on one of the trips I bought two RC Heli's in Hong Kong, they work great despite it was only au$15.00, lol.

Well, I got bored of them and decided to try to make an RC Boat. I took both the engines(4 engines in total, don't ask to hard to explain) and took the rotors off, now I need two props, and maybe some wood to make the boat but I don't no what I should do;
Make a boat myself and put the engines in it or buy an empty boat that's been made by a pro or machine.

Any suggestions or things I should know before I go ahead with buying a life or making one would be appreciated!

How can you get sick of a RC helicopter? I spent 4 grand on a Bell 212 Twin Jet RC helicopter and I love it. Its painted in the Victorian Ambulance(Hems 2) colours with the decals. As for a boat....make sure its waterproof!

Well I have a remote controller television. You press a button on the remote, and it changes channel.

I kid you not.

...Yeah. Thinking of getting myself some chargeable RC mini helicopters. For while I'm working.
If I remember correctly, "Balsa" wood is occasionally used in some remote controlled boats. That stuffs so light, you'd hardly even need it to be waterproof. Bit weak though.

Helicopters are ridiculously expensive. I'm into planes. During the holidays I'm buying a whole new plane set up for $850 brand new ($1300 rrp but as I'm buying it all together...) from a guy I know at toyworld. Includes DX7 Spektrum gear.... Should be a good set up. Fully 3D aerobatics.

As for the boat. Try styrofoam and cut it out yourself, to make it look nice when your done apply heat to melt it a bit. Then you won't get any flaky bits.

I think you should make the whole boat out of lead, and don't test it once until it is complete.

Then, when the day finally comes, walk to a nearby lake, with your boat on a trolley...

Throw it into the lake, with a smile of joy on your face, and watch as it slowly drifts off, towards the bottom of the lake, propellers spinning futilely in an attempt to move it.

...Or go with the styrofoam. I've seen a few RC type things made with that. Light, floats, and fairly strong/springy.

3/4 of that was spam you spam machine.

I've been thinking about stryofoam it's actually pretty strong, I might make the outside of Balsa then paint it and then put stryofoam inside it for strength and to make it float.

As you read, Balsa is for the outside, to make it look good then I'm gonna put that waterproof paint on and then some styrofoam to keep it strong in the inside...

I'm gonna make it in three peices so it's easier to take out and such...

Ok...
I've made the frame, placed the engines in started puting the balsa around the outside.
Now...
I'm either gonna buy this:
($200)

or
($179)

Which one would you suggest?

Thanks all~Lawso

In the wind or just whenever?
Is it easy inside?
The wind really knocks RC stuff around.

A friend bought a RC sail boat for $1200 the other day, crrrrazy! It's like a metre long or something, what a waste of money

Wind only makes flying planes bliss. Helicopters don't like wind and they're hard to control at the best of times. Buy a plane. Start with a electrafun XP. They're fantastic trainers.

I saw some guys with two, I had a turn and I thought they were pretty damn good.

I've had a plane and it didn't really last long, I've had a Chopper and it lasted longer and was better to fly and I've had a couple of cars and the one I've now has lasted about 3 years, and it's fast.

It flies beautifully and responds within a millisecond!
