GOW: Chains of Olympus - 9/10

I AM THE GOD OF WAR!!!!!…. Well not really, the real God of war is actually Kratos. Kratos is back in a whole new adventure but this time, he starts his new adventure on the Playstation Portable (PSP). God of War: Chain of Olympus is the prequel to the first God of War (GoW) game on the Playstation 2. Much of the gameplay in the game will be familiar to those who played the last two GoW games.
GoW: Chain of Olympus is claimed to be one of the best games yet on the PSP and I have to agree on that. The game although feels like it’s a bit too much on the PSP, and by that I mean, the game is surprisingly so good for a portable game. In fact, it could’ve been a console game instead but the PSP really needed another big-hit game.
-Kratos is back but he’s back on the Playstation Portable instead. Don’t worry Kratos, you’ll come back once again when God of War III arrives sometime next year.
Gameplay – 9.5/10
- Basically, the game’s gameplay will be familiar. Your main weapons of course are the Blades of Chaos, the blade in which brings horrible death to your enemies. The main focus in the gameplay is to kill your enemies in a stylish (and sometimes funny as well) way. As for big enemies, if you kill them enough, the “O” symbol appears. You must press certain buttons on the PSP in order to kill giant enemies in a unique way. Press the button correctly and you have killed your enemy in a creative way. Besides using the Blades of Chaos, you can also use the Gauntlet of Zeus, a giant gauntlet that uses a powerful force to send your enemies flying or crush to them ground. The gauntlet is good for those times when you need to kill you enemies quickly in order to gain more health but be warned, the gauntlet does make you attack slower. The weapons can still kick ass even when you’re on the go.

Press the given button correctly and you can finish off your enemies in a bloody finish
Not only do you use weapons, but you can use magic spells as well to help you kill your enemies quickly. The first magic spell you get is
Efreet. When you use it, it summons a huge, red, genie-like being that pounds his fist onto the ground by either stopping your enemies in their tracks or just burning them alive. There are other interesting magic spells you can acquire but you can find that out for your self. The magic spells are also good during those times when you’re close to dying and quickly need to finish off you enemy but make sure use the magic spells wisely as you have a limited amount of how many times you can use them because of the magic meter.

The Efreet spell is very helpful when surrounded by those annoying enemies of yours. It’s funny when they scream in agony because you can burn them alive.
Oh and like every God of War game, there’s always at least one sexual encounter in the game. But it is optional so anybody who’s not perverted or is a girl gamer doesn’t have to go to through this awesome---- er….. I mean
offensive part in the game.
Story – 9/10
- The game’s story is basically about how Kratos must retrieve Helios so that he can release Morpheus' grasp on the other gods and his power over the Earth and also save him from the Atlus. Atlus is a Titan chained by Zues for all eternity. The only thing fueling Atlus’ powerful force is the strong hatred for the gods. Kratos must go on a journey to save the world from the darkness. Along the journey, Kratos will of course be causing bloodshed. You kill several types of enemies like Harpies, Ogres, Medusa-like creatures, and even a gigantic beast that breathe fire and can take you out with one bite.

Besides hacking and slashing through your enemies, there’s are some parts in the game where you have to solve some puzzles. Don’t worry, they’re not THAT tricky.
Graphics – 9/10
- The graphics in this game is amazing and I do mean amazing. You’ll find it hard to believe that a portable game can have such good graphics and not lag one bit. Since the game is MA15+, you’ll bound to see some blood spewing everywhere, though it doesn’t stay around that much. You will see lots of blood when killing a lot of enemies. You can even tell when you decapitate a monster or whatever. The PSP is known to have good graphics for a portable gaming console, but with God of War, let’s just say it could’ve been on the Playstation 2 as well. There’s isn’t too many blurry things on the game and even some of the backgrounds of the game can be visibly seen. And yes, the breast scenes can be visibly seen as well.

The graphics are so good in the game, you can tell how much the goat beast is in pain when Kratos finishes it off.
Conclusion
God of War: Chains of Olympus is a must have for every PSP gamer’s game library and also for those who just got a PSP. The game is what you expect from the last two GoW games and that is satisfactory enough. The only downside I must mention is that the game is too darn short! You can basically finish the game in 5-6 hrs. But there are some extras in the games that you can play that kind of makes up for its short gametime. The Treasure section of the game contains 5 challenges, what costumes you’ve unlocked, videos of the game and the developers, and gallery pictures. The other thing I recommend is that this game should be for those who are 14 of age or older because of the nudity. You basically have intercourse with two ladies in the game and you even get to see their breasts (even one of the goddesses’ breasts)
Anyway, I’ve really enjoyed this game because I can cause bloodshed wherever I go. The game is also good for those times when you are really frustrated and need to vent out. (like admins for example, hehe.) and if you have the PSP Slim, the game would look 10x better on your TV. My final rating of this game is
9.5 out of 10. Could’ve received a perfect score if it was a bit longer and had some replay value.
