Sikmate, you will need to build armour with backpacking skill to pass that egg hunt quest. You need some Vespoid armour for carry/backpack skills. Otherwise you need to add up 10 points for backpacking by buying these items from shop:
Battle Tasset:4
Battle Greaves: 3
Hunter's Vambraces: 3 = 10
I killed the Rathian and still had trouble running through that cave full of bullfangoes. Once you're ready to run, bring a well done meat and bring your stamina to max, and when you're running through the cave (put on your earphones) and run in a long zigzag pattern. Change direction when you hear a bullfango charging from behind, and don't let the stamina run out completely or you'll drop the egg.
If you can get a power extract from Gypceros, combine it with a well done steak for a mega juice, it'll make this quest A LOT easier. Or you can at least mix a catalyst (buy from old lady who stocks it randomly) and a rare steak for power juice.
