I was thinking about joining it. I didn't though because it wasn't compatible with Windows Vista. I don't know about now though. It also said that for Bidpond members, it is unmetered, or something like that.
Also, the story about it on 60 Minutes was really annoying.

I'm signed up with a chat-room where the avatars are in 3D. You can make a little money from that as well. I've seen an ad for it here on mypsp.
Haven't been chatting on it for a while though, I keep getting all the weirdos.

Is it so hard for people to believe that I honestly only want to chat and meet new people? And I don't mean for any perverted reasons.

Second life as everyone knows is an online world, where people choose "avatar" ~ a digital representation of themselves.

In this online world, you can choose to be whoever you want to be - be it a factual representation or just an all-out imaginary figure.

The other aspects of this game is that you can buy and sell your intellectual property (aka IP: a term for copyrighted material that an individual comes up with)- for Second Life Mullah currently $20 = $1 US or maybe it is 100:1? I dunno... but that is the part that is most interesting as people love doing and creating crazy things... and with the world as your oyster you can truly be whatever you want to be... in a disturbing or awesome way.

We had telstra try and demonstrate it at one our Work Expos and there was no one on the "Testra Island" Then this chick walks past... I walked around the big banner to see a technician on the floor with a laptop and I lold hard!!!

Mmm, what about the lady that is trying to buy and sell products on there? And then a group tried to flame her public appearance by showering the stage she was about to appear on with flying woman's nether regions?

Perhaps the live music act that played across the globe where people met up in "second life usa" and had a concert. Basically, they all logged in from across the globe, flew their avvies to the place and performed music for free.

I think thats about it for now... well the interesting parts anyway - property tycoons and people launching their music careers!

It's free to join. But costs money when you begin to buy things etc. It's quite complex when you use it that way.

Some Aussie guy made the world stock exchange, made $48000 after 2 weeks (he made a $200 investment!) .. though i'd say he'd be a pro on the comp and in stock broking.
