Those kids (with the eyeliner, sulking and whatnot) are not goth. They're just attention seekers trying to make a scene out of themselves. They pretend to be depressed and claim to have a miserable life just so they can relate to their favourite band or movie or something. These people are not goth...they are EMO!
Goths are a whole different story. A Goth is not afraid to poke fun at themselves because if they can laugh about their appearence then it's almost impossible to bring them down. Most goths are also atheists meaning they do not believe in any God. This erases the rumours that goths 'worship satan'. Though, there are a handful of Christian goths out there. A real goth doesn't wear excessive black, makeup, black lipstick etc etc. In fact most goths wear whatever they want. A goth can be wearing Von Dutch for all you know and you wouldn't even tell that they're goth! And finally, goths have FUN! They don't waste their life moping over how their life sucks or how miserable it is to be living with their parents. The only thing they complain about is the way humanity is slowly destroying itself. Goths are known for being somewhat misanthropic (dislike towards humanity) as they see the world as a sad place to live amongst it's beauty.
