Ridge Racer PSP was a pretty impressive launch title for the PSP, but is the Sequel to Ridge Racer PSP actually worth purchasing?

It is if you get a good discount by trading in your old one!


Graphics: 9.5
From the framerate, to the smoke of burning rubber, the graphics of both Ridge Racer and Ridge Racer 2 are the closest thing to "Great" I've seen on the PSP system!

Most of the new cars look awesome too! They all look so shiny!


Most of you people should find that the graphics are definitely a main feature of the Ridge Racer (PSP) Series!


Sound: 8
I'd say that the RR2 soundtrack has about 10 new tracks in addition to the songs in RR1, and the new tracks are pretty good!

The SFX are like any other racing game in the 7th generation of video games, there's tire screeching (Which is very repetitive by the way), engines roar etc. It's definetly all there.

As for other SFX, theres the annoying, repetitive DJ as always(If you've got a problem with him, change the sound settings!). Theres that power-upish sound of your nitrous building up. Theres also an echoey effect on everything when you enter tunnels, I found that to be a pretty cool effect!



Gameplay: 5
The gameplay is no different to the first game, that can be a good thing for some fans. I know I like the classic, arcade style racing of ridge racer.

New game modes include:
Arcade Mode: Like single race mode, but with a time limit.
Dual Mode: Compete against one opponent.
Survival Mode: Race 3 opponents, every lap, the racer in last place is eliminated!

All 3 of these modes are fun as long as you've unlocked the special class cars, thats when it gets fun!



Depth: 7
Lets see, um...the depth is really good, it takes awhile to complete, and for every tour you complete, you unlock a new car!

To unlock new tracks for other game modes, you have to drive 'em in World Tours mode. So you don't get nothing new until you play WT Mode!


Lastability: 8
This game(like stated above) should last you about 5 weeks while still progressing. So this game and the prequel will last you awhile before you'll need a new game!

The new modes drag you into playing the game after you've completed it too, why? Because the gameplay doesn't get old! It already is!
