This is kind of different, but i want to die slowly, i said it at school the other day and my mate's just looked at me weird (no that's not normal speak for me at school! lol). I mean, i just think having the opportunity to prepare myself, say if i get cancer (which i probably will, family thing ), at least i'll have that chance - rather than walking to school tomorrow and being hit by a car or riding my bmx bike and stacking, like that poor kid not too far away from myself. I know that's it, it's overwith, but i think after living years and years of no pain - i'll come to a point where i'll be willing to put up with a little (or lot) of pain to extend my living.

Not sure if that was appropriate....

I don't think so, god made us this way, it's natural.

@BJ2: Well, having recently lost someone to cancer, I too had the same question. The way you described your situation is almost identical to what I went through. I don't think we truly appreciate things in our lives until we lose it. We take so many things for granted. God might have given us the technology to cure many things, but in some, he probably has a plan for us to come back to him. To leave things back in his hands. This is my faith. My belief and like I said... I am still out on Euthanasia. I honestly am in two minds about this, because on one side, I believe in the quality of a person's life but my faith says to hold on to them - not allowing us to make the decision. I guess I was lucky that he went in his sleep rather than having to turn the support off.

I don't know what I would have done if I had to make that choice. But like the quote goes "If God bought you to it, God will get you through it".

Once again - all my belief.

@IAC - Epic faliures allow us to learn from our mistakes, yes? But like I said below... we need to approach everything with an understanding.

@Repop - Well according to the bible (no matter what denomination): what you are doing is wrong. And it can be considered a mortal sin on three basis:
1) You know it's wrong
2) You know that it's serious
3) You do it of your own free will.

But then herein lies the other question I have.... the psychological effect it has on people that do not do it and keep thinking of it (which is also wrong too)... or do it and then feel guilty. Like, I understand that most of the things written in the bible have stood the test of time and thats good (like the whole one partner idea - etc etc... which would help to reduce the rising cases of STDs, HIV etc). But there are definitely things that could be updated.

But yeah... I don't have the answer to all the questions... heck I'm questioning it too so that it strengthes (or reduces) my beliefs.

Hope that helps ~ Fayth

Ok, I'll accept your answer to my question on the previous page, but only because I can't be bothered arguing the point right now ( also expected the answer that was given).

I have more questions though

So, do you believe that every 'bad' thing that happens to us, is all part of this 'higher plan' that 'God' has for us?

So that's a yes? Was just trying to make it crystal clear for myself.

But...even if it is part of a 'higher plan', what's the point?

In a way, we all need to learn something in ourlives. Learning patience, frustration, hope, faith, belief, despair, love....

You cannot have these if you do not face it's opposite, you know?

Like, you can never know what it's like to be loved, unless you've loved and lost it. Or be free, unless you've experienced captivity...

Wow... I amaze myself with my witty philosophicalistic knowledgeness...thing-a-ma-jig... yes... I know... I make up words!

Bit of a difference hey IAC... not catholic... although they have fundamentalists everywhere these days... gosh... generalist stereotypes!

I think I touched base oncee with some other admins banning religious topics... considering most wars are based on religion somewhere, it just causes mess.

Ah, this one isn't too bad

I can only think of 2 points to life.

1) Sex, which is great Feels great, hense why people enjoy it. But when you think it's just impulses to the brain you realise it's not amazing lol.

2) To aid to the existence of man. Help develop Technology to move on. But in the end we are all going to die anyway... so what's the point?

I still think it's BS if you are a good person but aren't religious you won't go to heaven. Maybe if I killed people and reconciled with my sins, I'd get in.

God sounds like the head of a communist party to me, not to offend any christians, jsut how if you don't think along his lines of thought you are kind of kicked out...

I just wanted to know, from a religeous point of view, what the point was?

To better help the future generations? Why? They're just going to die like us...etc.

Oh, and on the topic of the meaning of life, I came to the conclusion a while ago:
There is no meaning to life. You give it meaning.
E.g. Everyone's interpretation as to the "meaning of life" will be different. For one person the meaning of life may be to make noodles, for the next, it may be to play the violin. For each and every person the "meaning of life" will change many, many times throughout their life, but there will probably be one re-occurring "meaning" that they keep coming back too, which dominates for most of their life.

But, because it is different for everyone, no one can actually say what the meaning of life is. It is whatever you want it to be.
